He said she said!

Heck no! its just words. Everybody overreacts to nothing. Everybody gossips, its an everyday thing. The only way i could ever see it being harmful is if someone of high power such as a cop or the president gossips about someone and they get in a lot of trouble and possibly go to jail, but I don't see that every happening, because Ive never heard of anyone getting hurt from gossip. As long as you know its not true then its not, you shouldn't have to worry about what other people say. And if someone gossips about you just gossip back.

Triumph in the face of adversity

Adversity effects everybody, and in many different ways and everyone has their way of dealing with it. Some people get sad, mad, and others triumph by not using their adversities to their advantage and keep moving forward. Tillie always gets made fun of in the story, like when Ruth makes fun of her about her hair and looks but keeps going and eventually win the Science fair without the help of anyone.

Everyone has dreams, especially in the play The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds. Dreams represent ones ambitions or goals to accomplish something possible or impossible, but where theres dreams there are also nightmares. In the play Beatrice dreams of opening a tea shop, and has recurring dreams about her father.

Self image is very important to beatrice and ruth, but not tillie. Both beatrice and ruth are constantly worrying abouty how they look while beatrice tells Tillie that she is ugly and dresses weird. Ruth cant leave the house without first putting on makeup and wearing tight sweaters. Niether Beatrice or Ruth want to be seen with Tillie when shes not dressed up. an example is, When Ruth makes fun of Tillie for cranking the atom model, or when Ruth is scurrying trying to find the lipstick before school.
